Paula Pebsworth

Primatologist and Independent Researcher

With a PhD in primatology from Kyoto University, Paula has studied golden bamboo lemurs in Madagascar, chacma baboons in South Africa, chimpanzees in Uganda, rhesus macaques in India and Hamadryas baboons in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. She conducted her dissertation research in the Western Cape with chacma baboons. Subsequently, she held a post-doctorate in India, which tested non-lethal strategies to reduce crop foraging. Paula is also interested in gathering baseline abundance data, and she helped organize a country-wide population estimation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. She is an Associate Editor for the scientific journal Human-Wildlife Interactions and a member of the IUCN’s Section for Human-Primate Interactions.
